Summer 2011 fashion trends are going to be much different than the fashion trends of years past. This year, retro, and 60′s/70′s are in style. If you don’t want to be out of fashion this year, take some of these tips.
Wear those cat eye sunglasses
If you are going to be prowling around on the beach this summer, or even if you’re just walking around town; wear cat eye sunglasses. This was a popular style back in the 50′s and 60′s, and they are a popular style now as well.
High-waisted flare jeans
I told you that 60′s and 70′s were in this year. Break out some of those flare jeans. It’s sure to keep you in style this year.
Flatforms
This may be something you have to look up–but think–half platform, half wedges. It’s a great way to stand out in the crowd without killing your feet.
Japanese inspired outfits
Try to accessorize your outfit with obi belts, kimono coats, and satin pieces. (preferably in a bright blue or pink) The Japanese styles were very popular in the 60′s and 70′s.
Preppy accessories
You may have to dig into your grandma’s closet, but those old out-of-date accessories are coming back. The
ladylike watches, the striped tote, and the tasseled loafers.

Oversize sweaters
Believe it or not, your boyfriend’s sweater may be of some use after all! Oversize sweaters are a great retro fashion. Retro has been going strong for the past couple of years and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere soon.
Hippie tunics
You know those over-sized shirts/tunics from the 70′s? Yeah wear those. Get back in touch with your nature loving self with this style.
The summer 2011 fashion trends are all about retro and old styles. Make sure to keep this in mind when you are getting your new outfits and you will be in style this year.
